Ashcroft works with global OEMs to align instrumentation solutions with both technical requirements and broader operational objectives. In many cases, the challenge extends beyond product specification to include supply chain efficiency, inventory optimization and international compliance.
This Use Case demonstrates how a coordinated instrumentation and supplier strategy helped a compressor manufacturer streamline procurement and reduce inventory complexity. It also shows how supplier consolidation supported the flexibility and global approvals required for worldwide distribution.
A compressor manufacturer with a worldwide distribution network, supplying products that require reliable pressure, temperature, and level measurement instrumentation across multiple platforms and end markets.
The manufacturer required a high degree of instrumentation customization to support different compressor designs and applications. At the same time, internal challenges were growing: cost- and time-intensive stock-keeping, complex procurement processes, and the need to ensure international product approvals for equipment used globally. The company sought to reduce internal complexity while maintaining flexibility and compliance across its product portfolio.
Through joint consultations and a structured quotation process, Ashcroft Europe worked closely with the customer to evaluate not only the instrumentation specifications for the Ashcroft® S1 OEM Pressure Transducer, Ashcroft® T6500 Pressure Gauge and the Ashcroft® Bimetal Thermometer, but also the broader operational and supply chain challenges. The assessment revealed opportunities to consolidate product selections, streamline procurement workflows, and reduce inventory burden without compromising customization or global approval requirements.
Ashcroft delivered an integrated instrumentation and supplier concept tailored to the customer’s technical and operational needs. In addition to supplying pressure and temperature measurement solutions aligned with the customer’s specifications, Ashcroft proposed a coordinated supply model that included:
This holistic approach positioned Ashcroft as a single strategic partner rather than a transactional supplier.
The integrated supplier concept enabled the customer to reduce its number of instrumentation suppliers from three to one. This consolidation streamlined internal procurement processes, reduced inventory management effort, and minimized the potential for process and logistical errors. The manufacturer achieved improved operational efficiency, greater supply chain reliability, and long-term cost savings while continuing to support global deployments with approved, application-appropriate instrumentation.
For global OEMs, instrumentation selection is only part of the challenge. Strategic portfolio management—combining technical expertise with coordinated supply (and logistics concepts), can significantly reduce internal complexity, improve efficiency and create lasting operational value. Ashcroft experts work closely with customers to deliver integrated solutions that address both measurement requirements and business-critical challenges.
